Bruce -
I think my last mail talked about all the murphy aspects. The hill also
brought great success.
We worked down to EN91 on 222 & 432. The guys we worked in Michigan this
year were the same ones we worked in 1994 (coincidence or just "the hill"?!) I
know we were able to hear stations that no one in the Twin Cities could hear.
That extra thousand feet helps!
It was fun to operate with guys I had never operated with before. We have
different operating strategies and experiences. They all melted together as the
contest went on.
Brent got to do a bunch of CW work on 222 and he found out what a great CW
call N0HJZ can be!
I got to hear my first 10 GHz SSB QSO. Hearing Mike, KM0T, on 10 GHz at
20-30 over S9 is a thrill! I think that Buck Hill could be useful for the 10 GHz
Contest. Anyone staying in the Twin Cities for the first weekend of 10 GHz?
Anyone have a spare rig? I may be available to run up Buck.
I've got a lot of ideas and improvement ideas for RoverMania III. Is someone
going to be the keeper of the ideas?

John:
Thanks for such a nice write-up! I had no idea your team was facing such
challenges. In all of my roves, I've occasionally lost a band for a given
contest. When I consider how quickly I load the equipment and how roughly
it gets handled, I keep expecting more failures. I'm pretty sure my turn
is coming.
I want to thank you, Rich, Brent, and Gary for "being there". Sure, this
one had some distasteful challenges. But in a career of contesting, this
sometimes happens. While your collective goals and expectations may not
have been met this time, the state of VHF and above activity in this
region was helped by your teams efforts.
For one, it was good to hear Rich back on the air. It was kinda like old
times. Also, it was good to hear each of your voices as I got passed to
the bands we could. Yes, that 10GHz QSO was the most rewarding QSO of the
entire contest for me.
I can imagine a Multi-op on Buck Hill where most all things go pretty much
as planned. I'm hoping you and others step forward to make it a reality
during some future event.
Thanks to all of the N0HJZ multi-op team for the efforts and hassles you
endured. My fun was increased thanks to you.
