I will also be on for most, if not all of the sprint tonight. If I lose
heart, it will be toward the final hour. It's pretty cold and windy already
here, 40 miles north of Milwaukee.
I don't know if K9JK is the only rover op out there tonight, but I sure
appreciate John posting his plans. I will print those out and take them to
the shed with me, John. I'll plan on turning your way right after 15 past,
when I can turn my beams south toward you. I may try to "piggyback" any
NLRS or CVVHF activity you can stir up while you're looking in their
direction. And if you should happen to hear me working someone you need, by
all means, pop right in and call them.
If anyone wants a specific sked to get EN63 in their log tonight, please
propose one. In the past few weeks, I have worked KA0PQW in EN33 and N0PB
in EM39 on 144. Both of those were 300+ mile SSB contacts. I worked KF0Q
in the 144 sprint while he was in the western part of EN43. All with only
80 watts and a pair of medium-length beams at good height. Last Sunday, I
heard at least two NLRS'ers on 222 as they briefly swung the beam thru this
area. They peaked at S 2-3, no problem. I've heard W0ZQ's 222.061 beacon
lightly the past few days. My opinion is that we don't give ourselves
enough of a chance to make the weak Q's. But on a band like 432, with the
tight beam patterns, it's really tough without a little coordination.
So NLRS'ers and CVVHF'ers, try to listen SE toward Milwaukee and Chicago
between 10-15 past the hour on John's rove freq. of 432.120. I'll be
listening and calling your way during those times as well.
Anybody else planning on opping?
73,
