Actually, I think that that is a very good idea.  It kind of reminds me of 
my first exposure to 10GHz operating.  It was back in (I think) 1977 at 
the RSGB Rally at Alexandra Palace in North London.  They had a demo of a 
homebrew WBFM with mechanical tuning.  It had a long run of waveguide 
going outside the building and was tuned to the London WBFM beacon!

Good fun!

Hey, leave a key hokked up and see if anyone wants to try and work the 
beacon...
