Hi Ford,
Haven't seen any other answers, so I'll toss in my $0.02 worth.

Yes, they will convert nicely to 10GHz.  Admittedly, some more easily than others.  Many (most -- all ?) of us here in the Cities are using DSS dishes.  

Basically, the DSS dishes are for ~13GHz, and circular polarization.  The horn, feed, and LNB are an integral unit. Use on 10GHz requires adding a probe for the 10GHz signal, removing the polarization septum, and making the circular waveguide large enough to pass the 10GHz signal.

Not all of the DSS dish feeds can be converted.  Ones that have very short waveguide sections can't be converted.  You need ones that have 2-3" of waveguide.  RCA, DirecTV, etc., are OK; Sony are not.  (The Sony dishes themselves work just fine... but you have to build a pyramidal horn ala W1GHZ in his "Online Antenna Book" to feed it.  Chapter 5 (6?) has all the details, etc.)

If you'd like some more information on coverting yours, drop me an e-mail.  I'll pass it along.  (It's a bit long for the reflector.)  If you need some help, I'd be happy to do what I can.  It really does require at least a drill press, and a 1/2" end mill makes it a lot easier, too.

So.  When will we be hearing you on 10GHz ?
