Here are my plans for operating 10 GHz for my upcoming trip to SDak on May
27, 28, and 29. I will take skeds and will also have my cell phone along
(952-215-7998). When I am not busy I will beacon towards EN34it for a minute or
two, then listen.
Thursday, May 27. I plan to find a spot somewhere around Goodwin, SD, or
EN14nv. I plan to take Hwt 212 west. At the MN/SD border its 1160' elevation
and climbs to around 2000' 20 miles to the west (Goodwin). The bearing from
EN34it (my house) to EN14nv is 273 degrees at 175 miles. I will be set up
and running by 5:30 PM and will stay for several hrs.
Friday, May 28. I plan to find a spot northeast of Brookings, somewhere
around Toronto, SD, or EN14qn. Brookings is about 1600' elevation while Toronto
and that area just NE of Brookings is again 2000'. The bearing from EN34it
(my house) to EN14qn is 266 degrees at 165 miles. I will be set up and
running at 6:00 PM.
Saturday, May 29. I will drive north from Brookings on Sat. morning to
operate either at, or near, the Sisseton observation tower which is just west of
Sisseton, SD. This should be close to EN15jp. Sisseton is at about 1500'
elevation while the observation tower is at closer to 2000'. The bearing from
EN34it to EN15jp is 289 degrees at 198 miles. I plan to be operational by
8:30 AM and will stay for at least several hours before heading back home. On
the way home I should be traveling through EN25 and close to EN24 so in the
event that there are rain storms around with a possible path, don't hesitate to
give me a call on my cell phone to see where I'm at.
I will be taking my slightly larger dish and six watt system. If its
raining on my end, I will be not operational. The bearing for all three days from
EN34it varies from 266 degrees (Friday) to 273 degrees (Thursday) to 289
degrees (Sat).
Hope to work a bunch of you.
73, Jon
