I just talked to Ray-KE3QY about the tripods he has.  He has a number of surveying tripods.  There are turn-key units (complete) and a number that need tweaking.  The complete units are $40 and the ones that need tweaking (maybe a leg clamp, etc.) $25.  He also has a number of center hubs and the pointy feet.  Fabricate your own legs or mix and match.  $20.
