Rich, N0HJZ, is in the preliminary stages of putting together rover data
for the August UHF contest (RoverMania). He has shared with me a peek of
the data that is coming together. All I can say is WOW. This is going
to be an August UHF contest like no other you have experienced. Last
year the NLRS placed fourth (KM0T), sixth (W0GHZ), and ninth (W0ZQ) in the
single-op high power category. I can tell you with confidence based on
what I've seen coming together that NLRS scores will significant exceed
last years scores with RoverMania.

The purpose of this little rah-rah note is to:
Let you know that RoverMania is coming together and its gonna be a
significant ARRL UHF contest event ! This is gonna be your chance
to be a part of something big. Who said that the UHF contest is
boring, no fun, and its dead. Reserve the 24 hrs from 1800 Aug 7 to
1800 Aug 8 for this one.
Someone should think about putting together a mulit-op station
because if you do, you are going to easily set a new Division record.
I can just about guarantee this. You can be famous. We should
easily shatter all operating class records with RoverMania.
If your a fix station, plan on being a bit busy. Pay attention to
the rover data (who will be where, when) that Rich will be
providing. You may want to make sure your rotator is in good
      working order.
If your thinking about roving, big rove or small, high power or low,
lots of bands or just one, get your rover plans (even if they are
preliminary) to Rich at n0hjz at aol.com and/or via the reflector. We
are open to all kinds of roves. To date Rich has (preliminary)
      plans from W0ZQ/R, N0HJZ/R, W0JT/R, K9JK/R, and N0DQS/R. I think
W0AMT will be out, how about it Jon, and how about a KF0Q/R rove Matt
? Tim, K9PG/R (& N9ILT/R), can you send any plans to Rich as I've
lost yours ? W9FZ will not be /R but may be able to get on as a
      fixed station. How about WB0LJC/R, KC0P/R, W0IS/R (& KC0OIA/R) ?
Donn, WA2VOI/R, I think you mentioned doing a rove too. How about
some new rovers ..... the UHF contest is ideal for giving it a go.

Get your plans together, get your station together, and get on. This is
gonna be big. 222 will sound like 20 meters and we will have Op's
cussing at each other for QRM on 1296.

73, Jon
Self appointed RoverMania Chairman
