Excellent idea, Jon. I think we showed a couple of months ago that almost any place that has a clear horizon west north-west will work. Long range WX forecast holds promise for some tropo enhancement. A good thunderstorm over, say the Willmar area would be good for rain-scatter, too. (I won't be there, as I'll be in western New York (FN02 or there-abouts) on my way the the Central States VHF Society meeting in Toronto. EN15 to FN02 is a bit much, even for GREAT tropo !)
The general idea of the activity on Saturday is to test 10GHz equipment, and provide some training, encouragement, etc., in advance of the August weekend of the 10GHz Contest. There are a number of new operators and stations for this years' effort, and they need some experience before they travel to Michigan's UP or the North Shore.
