Comments:
Well, finally have some time to write this up now. I had to redo my log to
clean up a mess that I made while in the middle of the battle. As a result,
my final score went down about 2,000 pts or so (drat).
I had a lot of fun with this one. I thought that people spread out really
well and that there was a lot of curtesy and support demonstrated by all. As
I said before, condx's were very typical for January and Mother Nature only
teased us a bit with some light aurora on Sat. late afternoon. Finding new
grids was like pulling teeth as I only ended up with 23 grids on 2m and many of
those came late in the contest. Best DX was over to K2YAZ in EN74 on 2, 222,
and 432. In the past we have worked on 903 as well but not this time. I
was very happy with the new 100 watts on 903 (thanks Dave !) and thought that my
6 watts on 2304 was good too as I worked everyone that I could hear on both
those bands. Perhaps the next improvement is a bit more suds on 1296.
Several highlights to the contest. One highlight was to hear the pile-up on
W0AMT/R when they set-up in EN25. Another highlight was clean sweeping
W9FZ/R on all seven bands from all nine grids.
Thanks to all who got on & made some contacts. Please remember to send in
your logs (mine is going in today Rich) and indicate NLRS on it. I only had
to grapple with the contest robot twice to get mine to stick !
73, Jon
