I heard several stations on my (vertical) Ringo Ranger II mounted 5 feet
above ground. Stations were mostly centered between 144.200 and 144.250.
Rig is a Yaesu FT-857. I haven't put it on the service monitor yet, but man
is that rig sensitive. With above antenna, I can hear the automatic
terminal information service (weather) at the Eau Claire airport, which is
about 12 miles away as the crow flies and with a high ridge between me and
the airport.
