One thing than might help is to listen for the WD9BGA beacon located west
of Madison. Karl has it on a 200' tower, which is 500' above average
terrain (its located on the top of Blue Mound) at EN53aa or maybe EN53ab.
Frequency is 144.298 +/- a little. 10w to a pair of loops, I think.

Will look for during the contest.

This is my first real effort on V/UHF and I am very eager for the contest
to get here.

I did listen on the net freqs. last night and the results weren't very
good. But since I'm new and ignorance is bliss, I'm going to be optimistic
that I'll be able to work some of you in the contest.

up skeds with me to test our propagation. I will be available basically
anytime from Tuesday afternoon thru the contest. I'd like to have at least
some idea of how well I'm being heard *prior* to the contest.

sooner the better because I don't have a computer in the detached shed yet.
I will be out with the radios quite a bit over the next 4-5 days.

omni loops up in the Sept. test and worked quite a few. This contest, I
expect to do even better.
