Subject: 10 GHz #2 for KC0P Operational
I tried out the unit with WB0LJC on Saturday afternoon
and was thrilled to learn that it works. Gary was in
his basement pointed out the window and I was on the
street in the back seat of my car. About 10 mw to an
open waveguide and we could communicate Fine Business.
Gary says it FMs on voice peaks but maybe that is caused
by only using 18 gauge zip cord for both the ICOM 271A
and the DE transverter from the vehicle cigarette lighter.
Gary brought out a weak signal source, 32 MHz osc and
diode to a waveguide and I found it. He said you can
hear it several db out of the noise, thats as good as
most of them. We had about four exchanges over about
five minutes and I never touched the dial. Fantastic !
I had powered up the LO at 10 am when I left home,
and we did the trial about 1:45. So with an antenna
and some power I should have a loaner for training
in Rochester. A real fun day. Thanks guys
