Hi All -
Just thought I'd throw in two cents on this.
I have used CT for about 5 years. It's free on the web and works well for
all types of contests.
Here is how easy it can be. The contest ends and you look the log over
quickly. You send the log to the ARRL (or CQ) and get a quick verification that it
was received. You then submit your file to the ARRL Logbook Of The World.
You find you've already got QSL's from the contest.
I submitted my log for my Norway trip to CQ and also to the LOTW right after
the contest. A day had passed since the contest and I already had over 50
QSL's. I know they are working on the awards section for LOTW and you'll be able
to use all your Q's to qualify for WAS, DXCC, VUCC, etc.
As far as noise, I have a Compaq laptop and have never experienced noise from
it on 160M - 1296.
