FOr what its worth, this is what _I_ use... part of it is hold-over from
some commerical/military gear I worked with years ago.
BLK   Ground (common returns)
RED	+12 DC(nominal)
ORG	+24 DC(nominal)
YEL	-24 DC(nominal)  for me, its -20

GRN	Control (i.e., PTT) I use PTT -> GND to Transmit
WHT	Status/Control (currently, I don't use this, but will someday)

Never ran into +/- 48 VDC
