Thanks to the responses...as far as Cushcraft
goes...why not foam dialectric?  Anyway...I think if I
were a stickler for adhering to recommendations, I'd
make a balun, I think for my application with the
antenna (Field Day, various contests, vacations) I
will leave it as it is...I think at one time or
another, I have wrapped a coil balun like this (8-10
inches diam.) on the mast just below the antenna, and
I didn't notice anything spectacular.  Thanks for the
input guys.
