[NLRS] choke balun question

I have a Cushcraft A-3 (10, 15, & 20-meters for those
that don't know). I have always been feeding it
directly with coax...braid to one side, center to the
other of the driven...looped up and over to keep the
water out of the coax (alway is torn down after
use...no permanent mounting here). I have heard that
these antennas are supposed to be used with a choke
balun. Does anyone know how many turns and how large
of a diameter turn should I have of RG8 or RG8X mini
for this balun...AND is it really a necessity?
