[NLRS] Designing the perfect State VHF Sprint...

Bruce -

I think the MNQP should remain the same. I actually thin that the HF and VHF
parts should be combined into a single-op category. I did very little on VHF
because I was always "running" on HF and couldn't break away from the run
long enough to make and Q's.

I think we need to revisit the All-Band Sprint idea that we had a few years
back. I really thought the idea was great and got it started for a couple
years but no one really took it and ran with it. I'd be interested in starting it
again. Here is the idea:

Summer All-Band Sprint
One week night in late June
The contest runs for four hours (0000-0400z?)
All bands 50 MHz and up.
Work stations once per band, regardless of mode.
QSO's are worth the same as the June VHF QSO Party (50/144 = 1 pt, 222 & 432
= 2 pts, 902 & 1296 = 3 pts, 2.4+ = 4 pts)
Mults are grids
Awards for the top overall scorer in each area (state?). Also an award for
the top score on each band. If you only have one band, you can still win an
award.

If we can get the contest to coincide with an Es opening, great! If not,
then you'll have to churn out Q's. I really like the four hours for a sprint.
You need to strategize how to maximize your Q's and what bands you want to
operate on. With a bunch of bands, yo could really run up a good QSO count
quickly.

I'll help if this is something we want to publicize again. If the summer
sprint works, we should do it again in December as a tune up for the January VHF
Sweeps.

My 8 cents
