KC0IYT MN-QSO-2004 Revision 2
I've made a couple of changes to my schedule: options for the west end of the
state, and flipped the order of Sibley and Renville counties (so I can operate
from the east end of Sibley county instead of the west end).
My planned schedule:
Plan A Plan B
DK Dakota 8:00 - 8:20am
ST Scott 9:00 - 9:20
CV Carver 10:00 - 10:20
MC McLeod 11:00 - 11:30
SI Sibley 12:00 - 12:20
RV Renville 13:00 - 13:20
KD Kandiyohi 14:00 - 14:20
MK Meeker 15:00 - 15:20 14:00 - 14:20
WR Wright 16:00 - 16:20 15:00 - 15:20
HN Hennepin 17:00 - 18:00 16:00 - 16:20
AN Anoka 17:00 - 18:00
Location info:
DK Dakota I35E and Cliff Road
ST Scott Savage / Shakopee area, most likely Hwy 13 south
of Hwy 101. Back-up is the Hwy 169 and CR 83 area.
CV Carver Just west of Chaska/Carver. Around Hwy 212 & Hwy 43
MC McLeod Near Plato & Highway 212
SI Sibley South of Plato & Highway 212
RV Renville Highway 212 and CR 20
(SE corner of the county, east of Buffalo Lake)
KD Kandiyohi Highway 7 and county 2 near Thorpe
CP Chippewa
SW Swift
MK Meeker South of Dassel
WR Wright Highway 12 area west of Delano
HN Hennepin Either neir Rigeview or Flying Cloud
AN Anoka
I've used topo maps at topozone.com to look for high areas that might work,
realising that the data is old so the areas might be completely built up. I'm
hoping to find roads where I can sit on the shoulder for 20 minutes.
Distances between sites are in the 30 mile range. I'm hoping to have time to
search for a good operating location and be on site early (yeah, right).
I don't know how well I'm going to be reaching out to the twin cities and
other rovers from the western counties. If I'm not reaching the twin cities
and/or other rovers well from Sibley and Renville, I'll skip Kandiyohi and add
Anoka (Plan B).
On the other hand, if things are going well I'll take opinions from those I
work in Renville and Kandiyohi and if it seems like I can make it to the twin
cities, I may attempt Chippewa and Swift counties (cutting Wright and
Hennepin) (Plan C). Yeah, I know that's extremely optimistic! :-)
I intend to have 6m on a dipole and monitor 50.170 and 144.220 on the beam
while driving between sites.
Thanks to Jason, N0RPM for the loan of a GPS. At least I'll know where I am,
even when I'm lost :-)
