Well, the Minnesota QSO Party is this coming Saturday (8:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
Full rules can be found at W0AA.org . The website offers a FREE MNQP
software logging program. This software was just recent upgrade to cover ALL bands
from 6m through 10 GHz (the previous version only went to 1296). In
addition the software allows you to have two separate logs open at the same time so
that you can set up one log for HF and the second log for VHF and use a
"Ctrl-L" to toggle between the two. I plan to make extensive use of this software
to run a HF and a VHF log simultaneously and to enter two logs (SOLP and VHF).

As you may also know there is a club competition. Last year the NLRS placed
third in the State .... here are the top three club finishes from last year
(with the number of entries and their club score) :

Northern MN DX Assn. 2 128,773
Twin City FM Club489,359
Northern Lights Radio Society674,826

In scanning the scores from last year I see that there were several NLRS
members who submitted a score but did not indicate NLRS on their log.

So, if you have a thought about playing radio this Saturday I strongly
encourage you to try out the MNQP. This is a low key fun operating event. Operate
VHF, HF, QRP, mobile, one or all of these classes and lets help put MN on the
map. Full rules can be found at w0aa.org . If you check out the w0aa.org
website you will also find out that there will be a number of HF mobiles out
activating ALL Minnesota counties.

Try out the free logging software, its awesome. Get on for a while and hand
out some Q's whether is fone or CW, HF or VHF. Also please make sure to
indicate NLRS on your club entry. With a combined HF/VHF effort we may be able
to capture first place in the club scoring this year.

73, Jon
W0ZQ
