What!? you mean they are going to concentrate on delivering just power
and gas? and not home entertainment? :-)
I have worked in the networking and ISP business space over the years
and always found it interesting that when you press the phone companies
or cable companies to improve their quality-of-service on residential WAN
connections, they would always respond with "it's an entertainment service
not a business service". Their take was that if it went to your house, it
was entertainment and therefore they didn't have to make it work as good.
I think it is reasonable to throw that back at power companies deploying
BPL and question them on why they are entering the entertainment business.
It is very good news that Xcel has not yet Drunk The Kool-Aid.
