Here is a cut & paste out of the Duluth NWS's forecast from this morning :
Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Northwest wind between 6 and 11 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 39. West wind between 8 and 10 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high around 67. West wind between 8 and 15 mph.
Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight.
Partly cloudy, with a low near 53. Southwest wind around 15 mph.
Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a
high near 73. Southwest wind 14 to 16 mph becoming northwest.
It will be cold 1200z Sat am on Thompson hill. Record cold. The good news
appears to be that the wind will not be a major factor as it will off shore, from
the west, at 8 to 10 mph.
The NWS has also recently factored in a fair rain chance for Sunday (after midnight
Sat.). The wind will increase some but it appears that it will continue offshore
(southwest) which is help for us NS types. The UP and Terrance Bay guys may have
the wind in their face.
Bottomline; Bring warm stuff .... light gloves are a good idea. Bring some rain
gear and weather proof your 10gigs as best possible. I intend to wrap mine in
plastic wrap ... good for keeping the light rain off. You can also harden your
IF rig a bit doing the same. Perhaps we can work a NS to Wawa or Terrance Bay
path via RS on Sunday .... won't it be nice to see a big-old T-storm park itself in
the middle of the lake ?
We should also expect signals to be weak this year .... it doesn't look like we
will have any tropo help. Its just too cold and the air is just too dry.
Sunday may be the better of the two days if we don't get rained out. If you
have headphones, bring them.
Drive safe everyone.
