Hi All,
Jim (KB0THN) and I operated a family rover. The q's started slow near pipestone with
the only stations we could work were Mike, KM0T and Matt, KF0Q. The rover rack
that Jim built was simply great. All steel construction, rigid and painted beautifully
gloss black. The antennas did not sway or wiggle at all. The rotator and thrust bearing
were in perfect alignment. It was easy to swing the beam. Our second grid was
from the top of Buffalo Ride directly below a giant wind turbine. The sunny was shimming the wind
was blowing and a beautiful day where you could see for miles.
Well we did manage to work Jon, W0ZQ/R and one other station. Our highlight was
working 5.7 and 10 GHz for EN43aa to Mike. Have not computed the actual distance but
should be around two hundred miles. The 5.7 was actually fairly loud.
I think Jim and I had about 70 Q each, pretty much evenly split between
432, 220, 5.7 and 10. 902 and 1296 didn't work very effectivley for some reason.
