Good day.
I was asked by several at Au04 for details of the tactical rapid-response
email list that was put into service last summer to enable dissemination
about local (Upper Midwest) 10GHz operations.
As you may recall, there was some dissent about this service discussed on
the list last year, however, given its specific, tactical purpose, overall
support was there.
This list is NOT meant to replace the use of the primary NLRS list for
general-purpose messages, even if they are about local 10GHz operating
plans.
The nature of the service makes it optimal for delivery to wireless,
email-equipped devices such as pagers and cellular telephones, and is to
be used only to send alerts to those who are locally active on the 10GHz
band when conditions look favourable for enhanced or anomolous propogation
(e.g. rainscatter, etc).
Given that the service is meant for delivery to portable devices as well
as conventional email accounts, messages should be kept short and to the
point. Many of the portable devices instill fixed message size limits of
a souple of hundred characters, and messages beyond such thresholds will
simply be truncated!
Please note, the service has no special support for delivery to paging
services but relies on your own wireless service provider's email
gatewaying service.
Assuming that you've read this far and are still interested in subscribing
to the list, you will need to visit the following URL and subscribe
yourself using the email address(es) that you wish to receive and send
10GHz alerts to/from.

Note, messages to the list can only be sent from an address that is
actually subscribed to the list, and all subscription requests are vetted.
This minimises the chance of having advertisements for the latest
anatomy-enhancing products from reaching your hand-held thingy - at least
though this medium!
