I have been "lurking" on the NLRS reflector for about two months and have
found the traffic very interesting. I am the president of the Pacific
Northwest VHF Society, and recently acquired a 10GHz outfit. We have about
ten people on 10 GHz in the Puget Sound area, and I am making this post in
hopes of getting advice on how to stimulate activity and interest in that
band. It is apparent that the NLRS has a thriving 10 GHz community, and
your activities all sound like a lot of fun.
The bad news is that we have LOTS of mountains out here, though I guess that
this is also "good news" if you can get up on top of some of them or use
them as reflectors. Puget Sound runs roughly north/south with the Olympic
Mountains to the west and the Cascades to the east. There is low land that
runs from Canada clear into Oregon with some bumps in-between. The NLRS
postings about over-the-water shots have been particularly interesting since
we have plenty of salt water out there in the sound.
Advice, anyone?
