Thanks to everyone for the fun time during the test. It was satisfying to
work all of you again.
Contacts with distant rovers were limited due to propagation and the lack of
any local (Northwest area) rover activity. This was the frist time that my
feet were on-the-ground at the start of the test (usually I'm still up on
the tower).
Weather conditions were good on Friday and Saturday morning so that I could
tram up the microwave array, microwave RF box as well as the 6 meter
antenna. The tower power winch came in handy for the heavy lifting.
What went well:
- Got back on the air after two years
- All 8 bands working by start of test
- No equipment failures during test
- No lightning strikes
Room for improvements:
- My 222 equipment performance and more stations with this band
- Propagation especially on 50, 2304 & 3456
- Microwave IF transceiver performance (FT-100 is inadequate)
- More rovers in the Northwest area
