For those who may have been under a rock this weekend (or, perhaps working
the CQWW fone contest), our NLRS club table at Hamfest MN was a success. I
found our club table (after walking in to the Train Show with KM0T) around 8:00AM
and several club members were already there. W0AUS and K0SHF brought their
10 and 24 GHz systems for Show & Tell and WB0LJC had a number of homebrew
projects for display. KT8O had the NLRS banner together in no time.
The table was constantly busy. We had a constant stream of people walking
by, talking, and asking questions. The "props" were great attention getters
and discussion points. We had 45 people sign in of which 17 were not
previous members. I think Bob & Lenny had around 20 Op's attend their seminar at
9:30 and a number of those people stop by afterwards. I know that at least one
high power 902 "repeater" passed into NLRS hands through this action.
I think we closed down shop around 12:30 or 1:00 PM as the crowd was
definately thinning out by then. I have no doubt that it was a good $20 investment
by our club as the exposure was great. Improvements for next time ? We were
not able to pull together any pictures, etc., of our North Shore trip .... I
think that we could put together some pictures, etc., of operating events such
as this. Without power we didn't have our website pictures, etc., up and
running. I'd be interested in what others think may be improvements for next
time.
Thanks to all those who help .... the list is large .... much larger than
Earls schedule that he put out, and that is what makes this a great club to be a
member of.
