LeavesHi all,
Just found about the group today at the St. Paul hamfest.

I have a set of WBFM 10 GHz transceivers, but am interested in getting on
SSB, probably on 10 and maybe 24 GHz. Glad to see there are a few people on
in the area. I am about 10 miles North of Eau Claire, WI (Bloomer). It
will be very handy when it comes time to test transverters, etc. to have a
source of redi-made suckers, er I mean helpers :O !!! Just kidding!
Looking forward to maybe getting something going over the winter.

I work in communications for a local power company. I work on 154 MHz, 450
MHz, 902 MHz (spread spectrum), 2.4 GHz (spread spectrum, unlicensed), 5.8
GHz (spread spectrum, unlicensed), and (licensed) 6 GHz equipment. We have
a very extensive "ring" microwave system extending from Northern Illinois to
NW Wisconsin and going into Iowa and Minnesota as well.

Looking for your experiences with the various vendors. Down East Microwave
has a great variety, but the prices make me gag. I'm cheap, so I will
probably buy boards and buy parts separately. I have another hobby that is
expensive and I don't want to spend gigabucks on radio gear that I will only
use in contests or an occasional road trip to a mountain top....
