Jim,
The site looks useable for most sites in the area that have
a view in the direction of Frederic. Don't expect great signals
since the obstructions I am finding on Radio Mobile are close
to your end of the path. Radio Mobile predicts S2-3 signals.
Pointing to the buildings isn't very useful if you can't directly
see them. You can get a bounce, I've done it, but signals
are very weak. It is probably better to try the direct path.
I am willing to go to Burnsville but the bearing may be blocked
from there. EN34is to EN35tp is 36dT with a reverse of 217dT.
If that doesn't work there are other sites near by that may work.
However, a quick look on the map shows the same problem.
On second thought, I will go to the Pilot Knob site. It has
views of both downtowns and a clearer takeoff in your direction.
EN34jv to EN35tp is 39dT, with a reverse of 218dT.
The north side of Monti should work fine if someone wants
to go there.
I suggest an 11AM start with 2 minutes sequences. You send first.
You can tell us how long you want to run. This is also about
the same time Jon, W0ZQ, plans to be on the air from the
Lonsdale area. We will have to work that out when it happens.
I will have 25W and a 10el beam for liaison on 144.260.
If we are going to be working 10G I don't think I will be operating
the other bands as a portable during the sprint.
73, Gary WB0LJC
