Hi Guys
As of Tuesday Nov 18th, I am now back on 10Ghz. Running a modified DSS
dish, Qualcom amp at 700mw and DEM transverter with FT290RII IF rig. I am
also GPS equipped for grid square verification.
The only on air checkout was done from Fletcher Hill near K0FQA's when I
worked Gary W0GHZ on downtown reflection.
I had aimed to work Jon K0FQA from EN36 on the return trip. I have a great
water shot across Lake Mille Lacs south od Aitkin ... but drove by it in the
dark .. so no attempt. It is 80miles from Jon and should be great for anyone
that can look north. It is 65 miles from here and is at a boat launch parking
lot. Nice spot. There is also another location by the "Big Fish" in Garrison
that is about 10 miles down the road. Good shot toward MSP but Jon FQA
my be behind a land spit.
If we get some more good WX or snow showers for scatter attempts I will
be looking for activity. From EN37ed or perhaps portable ...
FYI ... DEM has changed their 10GHZ transverter frontends and they now
have a spec of < 3.5db NF ..... ARGH ..... That is what I am running for the
next month before it is replaced with a lower NF transverter.
Thanks to Gary W0GHZ and Jon K0FQA for their help and encouragement.
