[NLRS] power supplies

I have a small Samlex 1223 switching power supply that
I use with my Kenwood TS-120S. It does not seem to
generate too much hash and although I have not used it
to power much other than the various rigs in my shack,
my neighbor (KB9LVK) and I have hooked it up to a
small HF brick that does put out about 250W on HF
(being modified for 6 meter currently), and it did not
really groan too much. Another thing to try which I
may also end up experimenting with is to run the
bricks off a battery and use a good regulated PS to
charge the battery in cycle. I have a Speco PSR-18
supply that I may use for this purpose.

The Speco is heavyish and larger and the Samlex is
very small and light. Both run about $100 I do
believe. I think you might get better performance out
of the battery/power supply combo. I have not tried
either setup with amplifiers yet other than testing
the samlex for about 10 minutes. hope this helps.
