Hey all,
The past posts about the stacked arrays has gotten
me thinking about the contest coming up in June. Any
hints here are appreciated. The 6 meter antenna is
not going to be a problem as it is going to be on a
separate tower. The other 4 bands however are going
to be stacked on a separate one. I just would like
some input as to where the various bands might be put
and approx how far away. I will have a couple small
meters to check VSWR before and after and plenty of
time as we are setting up Friday day. The higher Freq
stack is as follows:
12 el 2-meter yagi about 15' long boom
10 el 220 on approx a 10 foot boom
18 el 432 on a 8.5' boom
35 el 1296 on a 8'boom
I was going to set up with the 1296 on top, and
working down, next the 432, 220, and the 2-meter on
the bottom.
I was planning on spacing them approx 2 feet apart
from each other. In any of your adventures in
stacking will this configuration work well with little
or no interferance (theoretically as reality will
always shoot thoery out the window). I used this
setup for the January contest with ok results, but
this was also my first real SSB VHF contest with all
the involved problems. Murphy knows me well. So any
comments or ideas on a better setup? The two towers
are going to be a good 40-50 feet away from each other
by the way. One tower will be up about 30 feet and
the other about 20 (3 and 2 sections of tower
respectively...with about 10 feet of masting pipe
above the 20 footer for mounting the stacked array. I
may decide on putting the stack on the 30 footer and
the 6 meter on the 20 footer...depending on how the
setup looks and works when we get there.
