I run a Kenwood D700 that has an attached surplus GPS. The surplus gps has to be modiified to get NEMA output but the D700 does all of the rest.. I have to turn off beaconing when contesting, but beacon my position right up to the start of a contest. 73 Clare EN44db K0NY
