I use the idiom press keyer and a bencher paddle.

If you are using a paddle while moving it doesn't matter how heavy the paddle is, it will become 
weightless  when you go over bumps.  Which is very annoying when you are sending.

Fix the paddle to something that doesn't move excessively like your leg.

As long as it doesn't move and is durable.  The key or paddle will do fine.

I have built a couple of paddles and have a bencher.  I always go back to the bencher.
