As I stated in my pre-contest email, I was confident that therre would =
be a good 6M Es opening on Saturday, since I was going to be at a =
wedding. I did manage to get home in time to get into the tail end of =
the opening and picked up a few good grids, but I missed most of the =
opening. Sunday was pretty much the pits for 6M.

And as usual, I struggled with equipment problems. Saturday morning the =
2M 8877 PA would only put out 150 watts. I swapped tubes which resulted =
in a blown fuse. I gave up and decided that I'd use my 2M brick for the =
contest. That worked fine until I smoked the brick Sunday morning, so =
then it was off to tear apart the 8877. Finally got it back on the air, =
but still not doing full output. 903 started out with no RX, but =
finally discovered a shorted piece of coax inside the transverter, so =
after replacing it, 903 was up and running. Also had some initial RX =
problems on 222. Don't remember what I found (might have been a dead =
preamp), but got it up and going. I did manage to finish the contest =
with all six bands running, but not without alot of pain. Guess I need =
to get started now with getting things ready for the Sept. contest. =20

Other than the afore mentioned problems, I did have alot of fun. I did =
not have much luck working the rovers, which seems to be typical. I did =
manage to get 16 QSOs with W0IS and KC0OIA on their return trip, but =
other than that I had one Q with K0PG and nothing more. It seems I also =
missed alot of the usual stations I work. Never heard KM0T, N0HJZ, =
W0AUS, K2YAZ, N0UK to name a few. I suppose I was just not in the right =
place at the right time. Hopefully I'll do better in September.

73,

Charlie, N0AKC
