To all,
Well, after a bunch of hair pulling excerpts and
such, the contest is a go. Depending on when I get
everything loaded up and leave Eau Claire today
(Friday morning---hopefully by noon), I will be
motoring south to the very corner of MN, WI, IA.
After I get things set up down there (guessing about a
2 hour trip, setting up at another 2 hours though
probably more), I will be doing a little on the air
testing early Friday evening/night prior to
contesting. I will most likely be pointing toward Eau
Claire and the Twin cities predominantly, but of
course it depends if 6 is open also..*L* Anyhow, the
setup will be as follows:
Tower 1 (30 feet)
6 Meters: RCI 5054 doing 25W into a 5 el up about
30'
Tower 2 (20-30 feet)
2 Meters: 736R doing 35W into a 12 el
220: 736R doing 35W into a 10 el
432: 736R doing 35W into an 18 el
1296: 736R doing 18W into a 31 el
I will be running SSB (and CW if needed though my CW
is going to be horrible). been practicing, but not
used to the paddles yet and am still rusty as hell on
hearing code. I will have a mem keyer, so it may not
be too bad, but send slow please..*S* I will also
have FM capabilities (horizont polarized) on all bands
also if needed...and AM on six meters if we want to
give that a go for giggles.
Frequencies are going to be:
Run: around the calling freqs---up or down
depending on traffic in area.
I will float up to call out on the FM simplex
calling freqs now and again also for those with only
FM
(let KB0LYL to look my way please if you hear him)
S&P: wherever.
Oh and the Grid square is (drum roll)
EN43gm
1 mile north of the Iowa border and 3 miles west of
the Wisconsin border just outside Eitzen MN. If this
works out for me and the land host, I may be doing
this for Sept. and next year also at the same site.
See you out on the bands. 73.
Dave......N9TTX/0
ps. I probably wont get back online until Monday
night, but I may check minutes before I roll on down
the highway in case any of you have last minute plans.
If you want to do a sched, let me know ASAP (this
morning) or find me on the air Friday evening while
testing the setup. TNX.
The BUTT (Big Ugly Travelling Thing) is contest
bound...pictures to follow. heh heh.
