A group of us traveled to Birkmose Park in Hudson Wisc this Sunday morning to
try to work KM0T on 10 GHz and to give him WISC for States Above. While it
had quit raining in Bloomington, about half way between St. Paul & Hudson we
drove back into it. At Birkmose Park was myself, K0KFC, Jims brother Tony
(K9QB?), WB0LJC, WA2VOI, and W0AUS.
We tried running with KM0T for 30 minutes. I heard one 2 minute sequence
and Mike's call once, Bob and Jim heard bits and pieces, but Mike never heard
us. As Mike runs more power, our signals would be about 10 dB less than what
we hear him at.
After this failed attempt. Bob tried working Mike on 5760 with no contact as
well. We then made an attempt on 2304 and had a good contact on that band
.... on our end we were running 6 watts and a hand held looper.
After this, we worked K0SHF on 10 GHz from his house using the IDS tower for
a reflector.
Bottomline is that we did make it to KM0T on 2304, and we did work Lenny from
his house on 10 GHz, but no Mike this time around on 5.7 & 10 GHZ. The
weather was most likely a factor.
