I got some good replies--including a phone call and a 2mFM ragchew in
addition

The basic answer is to just ground it on transmit at the same time as the
xverter. The amp won't be putting out any power until it receives drive.

Both Donn and Jon's points are noted and thanks. I probably will throw a
diode or two in for isolation. I had to do that on my 222 in the rover. As
Jon will recall, the IF rig on the 222 keys both the xverter and the brick
amp. Well, in that situation, I had just the problem he described and had
to use diodes to keep things under control.

Per Paul Wade's article on his sequencer, that board may come in handy WHEN
I finally get around to 3456 and am using a 20 or 40 watt amp. But the
sequencer won't be needed on this project.

I'm not back on the air yet--it'll be at least a week or more. Powerpole
bulkhead connectors are coming from Powerwerx. An iambic key is coming just
like the one that KM0T uses. I have to get some metal at Garelick's for
mounting the dish feed at "show center".

Thanks again for the inputs.
