Hi all, conditions started out very rough today, but it all turned out ok.

Gene, N0DQS/M went down to MO and KS today.

Worked him in EN20GN Missouri on 3456 and 5760 about 1445 UTC. We heard
each other briefly on 10 ghz, but that was it. We tried on 10 ghz for about
an hour and called it quits. Distance was 179 miles. Elevation for Gene
was 1150 feet.

The winds down here and at the Missouri location were brisk, 15 to 20 MPH
from the north. Humidity was 45% at best, pretty dry. Signals were weak
and lots of qsb. 5760 was quite the struggle. Gene quick went to another
location, but no better luck.

At that point, Gene and I chatted about it and he was only 40 miles from KS.
We were thinking about baggin it. I checked the internet weather reports
and for here in Sioux Center and down there, the winds were supposed to die
off quite a bit and switch to the NE and then SE later on in the day. The
humidity was supposed to rise 15 to 20% as well. We decided that he would
go to Kansas and see what we could do.

First off though, he was pretty tired out and checked into a motel to get
some sleep. I had the opportunity at that point for do about 5 hours of
lawn work!

Sure enough, the winds died down in both locations and the humidty began to
rise, some haze.

At 2245 from EM29DX - Kansas Elevation 1228 FT - 217 miles, we worked on 902
and up thru 10 ghz in no time, conditions were good and stable. Gene was
559 on CW on 10 ghz.

Gene made his way back to Missouri to EN20FL - 184 Miles - 1180 feet. Light
winds again - light sprinkle had just gone thru the area - some haze in the
distance. We worked immediatly on 5760 - 539 solid CW signals. Went to 10
Ghz and worked right away as well, very solid, no QSB, ended up chatting on
SSB on 10 Ghz.

Temps were in the low 70s during the day, but about 63 degrees when we
worked later on.

So, goes to show you, a little haze is a good thing....unless its in your
head after a long night out :)

Just FYI for those intrested in the wx in relation to dx conditions......

PS -

Im listenting to the SE right now at 0227 UTC, hearing ragchewing on 200
with southern drawl, no calls but definetly DX. Hearing tropo burst peaks
on those stations, but can pull the calls yet. Heads up for tommorow
morning!
