Hi All,
For those of you that had 10 GHz antennas measured at Aurora 2003 and at
the Mounds Park gathering in July, you should add 1.8 db to the readings
that were given at both gatherings. I took the 10 GHz reference
antenna to Central States this last week end and it measured 1.8 greater
than what I had been using as gain. I don't know why the variation but I
had been concerned that antennas that I had measured before on 10 GHz were
a bit low in gain readings. I spent a lot of time with the placement of
the source antenna assuming that was the problem. It turned out to be the
reference antenna. The only thing that may have been different was a
different WR-90 to N transducer.
The Central States Conference was great. I had the 10 GHz horn measured
and a broad band horn that was measured at 1296, 2304, 3456 and 5760. I may
use it as a source or reference antenna on the range in the future.
A 10 GHz pre amp was measured at 2.2 db and I intend to use it on another
10 GHz transverter.
We had an opportunity to talk with 10 GHzers from Kansas. They want to
try rain scatter with us in the twin city area.
