Hi All,
No one else has written about our Sunday 13 July 10 GHz
activity, so I guess it's up to me.
Gary, W0GHZ, was on from home. Bob, W0AUS, started at home
off of his dock, then went to Ridgeway Park and finally back home.
Jim, K0KFC, was on from a site in Shakopee and tried others in
the Chaska area. Lenny, K0SHF, and Eric, KT8O, operated from
the Burnsville site. Donn, WA2VOI, started at Ridgeway Park (if I
remember correctly). Then traveled to Red WIng and finally to
Cannon Falls. Bruce, W9FZ, got on from the balcony of his
apartment. Gary, WB0LJC, and Tony, KD0JI, operated from
two sites in Lakeville. The first is just south of the Lakeville
airport on 225th St W. The second was just to the west on
Highview Ave.
Many of the paths involved bounces off the Minneapolis downtown
buildings. I can't give a full run down, but I think just about
everyone worked all the others from most sites.
Tony and I worked Gary direct with strong signals at both sites.
We also heard him off of downtown. We worked Bob when he
moved to Ridgeway. He was heard but only with very weak signals
from his home. Lenny and Eric were worked at the first Lakeville
site. Jim was heard and worked with weak signals at both
sites. Bruce had very strong signals for both of us. We worked
Donn direct from both sites. Good signals from Red Wing while
we were at the first Lakeville site and from Cannon Falls when we
were at Highview Ave. An interesting side note. When we were
at Highview and Donn was at Cannon Falls I made a
mistake and thought Donn was trying to work Tony and Me.
He was actually working W0GHZ direct. I pointed his direction
and heard him with S9 signals. We made contact and he
couldn't believe signals were so good. He was pointed off us
by about 50 degrees. We worked direct later with even better signals.
We were able to work bounce paths off of downtown Mpls. even
though the paths were obstructed. Neither Lakeville site has
visual sight of the buildings. The ridge in Apple Valley is in the way.
I find it pretty interesting that we can bounce off of buildings that
we can't see. Of course signals are much weaker than when we
have a direct view of the buildings.
For the rest of you who were on, please tell us about any interesting
paths that you worked.
73, Gary WB0LJC
