It has been said that the K2 is the ultimate transverter i.f. Now, I've been
in KM0T's shack and I would have to say that that 27 inch color television on
the front of his ProII makes it real easy to find the other guy on the upper
bands when using the "band scan" function; so maybe that's really the ultimate
i.f.
So maybe the K2 is the ultimate i.f. under $2,700. That being said, those
xvrtrs look pretty doggone good stats-wise. With the K2's pedigree, and the
automatic switching for those three bands it look like a great combination for
the bottom three. I also applaud Elecraft for the 222 transverter. It's a few
bucks more than the DEM (in kit form) but it gives folks another shot at a
really great band.
If we could figure out how to velcro a K2 to the dashboard we might just get
that setup. Can a 432 transverter be far behind?
How about a second K2 with the DEM 2 meter transverter installed as the i.f.
for the higher stuff? I think this whole thing is a great boost for those of
our upper frequency bent. Hey Jon, I wonder how much current a K2 (or K1)
with the DEM special two meter transverter draws?
Hope to work y'all Saturday. 73, Tim K0PG/9
