Hello from the farm!
Thrilling tonight to work both of these stations. Rain helped! I'd like to think that I could make it on sheer troposcatter on the direct heading, but future tests will confirm or deny that :-)
In each case, I feel I WAS pointing on the direct heading but each of the other end were not--hmmmm. During my beaconing with Gary, I kept pointing at the common volume of rain storm near Eau Claire. But then I found him during my listening periods on what I felt was the direct heading. (With rain distortion)
CW sure makes it easier.
Email, or call my cellphone to coordinate any efforts on the evenings the rest of this week. Looks like 7:30-8:30pm is a good time or 8:00-9:00pm.
These are new distance records for me. I'm particularly pleased for "overland" shots.
I sent some "Radio Mobile" images to Gary W0GHZ, W0ZQ, and K0SHF that show the path to down here. If interested, either ask them for a copy (4.5 MB!) or I'll share them when I get back.
Thanks to Gary and Mike for giving it a shot! If any of you are working on VUCC from your favorite location in the TC area, and you think it has a good 120 degree view, consider running with me on an evening this week. (Be ready to swat mosquitos)
I had the 25w 2m and Big Wheel, but never asked Gary or Mike to try and listen for me on it. I stuck to the Cellphone for the coordinations.
Great Fun!
