Hi everyone, I worked Bruce as well on 10 Ghz, 0128 UTC I believe it was
rain scatter, but hard to say. Very AU sounding so im sure it was that.
However for direct path to Bruce it was 80 degrees from here. Path I worked
him on was 90 to 95 degrees, and not much on the radar around that time in
terms of showers in mid Iowa. There were a few "green" spots out there on
Unisys radar, but it would not seem to be enough. But now that I think
about it, when Gene- N0DQS went to WI around the end of June, the "green"
radar spots were about the same, but in a longer line around Rochester.
Skew path there was a bit north of then, so I guess it makes sense. Signals
appeared to be about the same strength.

Huge thunderheads here too boiling up due east, I took some pics of them,
they are "flat-topping" way up there, but do not seem to be in the precip
state yet. I wonder if that could have contributed? The dish was pointed
right at em. Slight elevation too, just a few degrees.

Path was 295 miles, new grid and new state for the year. 3rd best DX here
on 10 Ghz. Very good signals. I actually found Bruce by looking at the
band scope as I was poking the dish around. It never occurred to me to
point way south of the path, but when I did, I saw the blips on the scope!
Always something to learn and be surprised by!

CUL all and thanks Bruce for the new grid.
