Hello,
The HR-2510 and HR-2600 are practically the same radios. I think the only
difference is the HR-2600 comes with a CTCSS tone chip and will run split
frequency for the 10 meter repeaters. I think the HR-2510 doesn't have
those capabilities. I own a HR-2600 and I have plans to put the radio to
use on 222 MHz as well.
Look for a May 2001 QST. There is an article in there where the author
converted a Ten-Tec 1210 (10 meter to 2 meter) transverter to operate on the
222 MHz band. You need to pay close attention to his closing comments.
There is a filter that will have to be made to make the conversion
compatible with the FCC rules. The nice thing about this conversion is that
you don't have to modify the HR-2510 or HR-2600. If you go the DEMI
equipment route. You will need T/R switching and the way to reduce to power
input from the 10 meter rig into the transverter. That is all built into
the Ten Tec 1210. I plan to do that once I find a 1210 unit for a good
price on sale at a hamfest.
CU on the bands!!
