Horn antennas are relatively uncritical. More aperture gives more gain.
I prefer to have a slow taper for a little better gain.
The common probe coupling from coax to waveguide is just a probe stuck
in the middle of the broad face of the guide, trim for best SWR, should
be about a quarter wave in front of the short. The short can be moveable
and there can be some tuning screws between the transition and the horn,
though the horn I built eons ago wasn't improved by any matching screws.
I used waveguide test equipment to check it.
