I apologize if this is a duplicate, I sent this at about 7:30 PM and it has
not showed up yet so perhaps I made a mistake in sending it. Anyhow here it
is again.

Hi everyone, Had a good time during the contest. Started the contest
Saturday with the Flu, came real close to canceling my rove for the weekend
but kept at the over the counter Rx and took off about 45 minutes late
Saturday morning for EN20/30, and I did arrive a bit late to start in En30
but the activity was down to the south from that area, did work some of the
guys in Southern and western KS and a couple to the east and worked some in
EN34 and 35 heard a lot more but as with many contests there were few that
showed up on my operating freq of .160 and I could not bust thru all the
clutter on .200 or at least to work some of the further away grids. Hit
EN21/22/31/32 and run all the bands thru 10 gigs with KM0T with no
difficulty and also worked N0LL from those grids 6,2,222,432 with the
exception of 6 from 31/22. I think I just forgot to try that band from the
other 2 grids. Also from EN30 I worked N0LL and was on 222 and heard N0KQY
in DM98 coming thru like gang busters worked him and went to 2 meters within
seconds and really had to work at it to complete. I am running 120 watts and
7 El on 222 and 10 El and 350 watts on 2. Makes you wonder if we shouldn't
be hanging out on 222 instead of 2. Propagation was not good Saturday but
still was able to hear most of the guys I can normally work, worked no
further east than EN61 while in EN22/21/31/32 and I noticed the absence of
some calls on the band. Had some real good activity as usual from EN14 and
of course while there the 6 meter opening hit so I bounced around from
14/13/24 on 6 and it sure helped with the multipliers. Once the opening
subsided than I worked on the higher bands again with quite a bit of
success. I know there were some that I missed and it was getting late ( dark
when I left 14 ) and I wanted to at least make EN03/04 so I headed west,
always seems like it takes forever to drive east west across the grids but I
made EN04 and worked KM0T and WB0HHM and N0LL and headed to EN03 and worked
MT,HHM,LL again and worked W0OHU but could not raise anyone else from the
EN34. Was hearing lots of signals as far east as EN41 but could not cut the
mustard on .200 and from that remote area it gets difficult unless someone
is looking my way. I have told myself time and time again that I will not
end a contest in a remote area as it is like being the only fellow that owns
a radio ( don't listen to myself very well do I). Sunday Morning I was
feeling a bit better, maybe I just needed a good contest to get over the
flu. Also in Southern Iowa I was fighting blowing snow and drifts so pulling
into the driveways was interesting. One great thing is that Murphy left me
alone, the equipment worked really well and did work KM0T on 5.7 and 10 gigs
from 12 of the 14 grids activated, did not try it from EN30/20 do to the
high winds and trying to get the dishes stabilized and signals were not real
strong at that time of the day on 3456. Had a real good burst on 2 meters
Sunday morning into Delaware but I felt I did not get any RRRs back so it
wasn't counted. He was on .201 and I was on .200 listening with the loops
and he was really getting into the receiver so up the band I went and got
his info and heard my call and that was it. Heard other bursts also Sunday
morning. My qso count is down from last year as well as grids activated (18
last January) fewer multipliers this year also. Thanks to all who followed
me and wish I could have worked more it is always fun to give out grids to
everyone. Here is my "claimed score" I need to proof it again.
