Here is my score for the contest. I only put in about 4 hrs so I didn't
expect to get a big score. I tried to give out some points anyway, so here
is what i did. (I had a bad head cold and migraine and couldn't stand the
noise.)
Band Contacts Multi Grid
6m 10 x1 8
2m 21 x1 11
70cm 11 x2 8
Conditions seemed fair for January. I picked up the locals easy enough. It
seems that everyone out here in the sticks is on 144.200. I had quite a bit
of noise to contend with but managed pretty good. 6 meters was dead, and
band conditions were terrible. I missed the opening on sunday, that would
have helped.
Thanks to W9FZ for roving out our way. My score would have been even smaller
without those contacts.
I could hear chatter to the SE on .200 but I couldn't raise anyone in
33/34/35. I tried tuning around a bit and never heard anyone, so I started
calling up and down the band on 2m every 10 kc but could only find 2 takers
from that area. One on .190 and the other I had a sked with on .260. After
our contact he was nice enough to announce that i was on that freq and i was
able to give out a few more points.
I was disappointed that I didn't make more contacts in the Dakotas. I had
been advertising the contest on the 80m net but only had 2 people ask me
what frequencies I would be on. I guess I will have to work on them some
more. I know there are alot of them running hf/vhf rigs.
Here is my log and times, wish I would have been feeling better. It could
have done alot better with more time at the mic. Thanks all for the
contacts. Hope I helped out some of your scores.
