Started out this contest not really into it very much and just thinking =
that I would hand out some points and support our local rovers. =
Conditions Sat. didn't help my mood as tropo conditions were, well, par =
at best for January. Sunday things picked up a bit with both Gene & =
Bruce providing me with some new new grids on 903 and up. Regarding =
all rovers, thanks, thanks, and THANKS. Did I say thanks ? You =
rovers are just awesome.

High points of the contest:
1. Listening to one well known local rover have a discussion with a =
fixed station about the merits of sitting solely on 144.200. What made =
this normally enjoyable conversation even more enjoyable was that this =
discussion was held at 1:00 AM Sunday morning while he was out in the =
middle of a snow packed harvested corn field in the middle of nowhere =
when its -5 degrees outside. It gave me a good laugh.
2. Working most of the "new" rovers on at least four bands. 222 has =
come a long way towards activity in the last five years. YES ! 222 is =
the ultimate premier UHF (OK, really VHF) band that we have. I =
apologize to those rovers that I missed .... my rotator got a very very =
serious workout with rovers in all 360 degrees for most of the contest. =

3. Working those new grids on the high bands. Much thanks to Bruce & =
Gene. Its just awesome to be sending CW, break, turn the volume up on =
the radio and start to gently rock the RIT and there, just above the =
noise, you hear "W0ZQ R R R".
4, Working KM0T on 903.110 then QSYing to 1296. On 1296 I listened and =
heard nothing .... and then thinking that conditions really do stink =
cause I can usually hear Mike with at least a weak CW signal. Then I =
thought, hmmm, 903, 902, 1296, 1297, so I flipped my IF rig from 144.110 =
to 145.110 and bingo, there was Mike clipping away on 1297.110 cw. I =
think that this was my first 1297 QSO, thanks Mike.

Low Points:
Not that many. My neighbor called and said that I was into her =
cordless phone .... a new complaint so I'll need to check it out. My =
2m count was down this year .... I just didn't beat the bush as much as =
I have in the past. I also kept the power level down so as to not =
cause to many problems for others that were having a good time too. =20
