If I am not mistaken about Donn's directions, the EN43 spot he mentions
here is the one I have used. According to my copy of 3D-TopoQuads,
this little "pull-off to the north" is St. Charles Township 7, though
I really don't recall how well (or even if) it is so labelled from
the highway. I just go north the minimal distance possible to pull
off the road, and this is EN43ax, N43:59.968, W91:58.936. One nice
thing about this spot is that you can drive north the minimum distance
allowed by the rules and be in EN44aa, though I usually go just slightly
further to the "crest" of the "hill" (more like a bump), to a location
of N44:0.246, W91:59.001 or thereabouts. I'll have to mark both spots
with my new GPS this weekend, the old one, a DeLorme Earthmate, has
no internal waypoint storage.

Donn's more southerly spot has better views, and the same advantage
of quick traverse between grids, but between EN33 and EN43. I've
not been there, but may in fact check it out this time! Thanks for
the tip, Donn!

Otherwise, all I can say is that I trust Donn's experience and results
more than mine, and I most emphatically hope that you are able to get
everything sorted out in time to participate. I will put an update on
the NLRS web site tonight (I've got a meeting that starts in 45 minutes
in Burnsville, and I'm also trying to cook dinner for the family while
I type this. Yikes!)
