The recent talk about the family rover rule got Yippy and me thinking abo=
ut
the January contest! We have a harmonic on the way :-) so we'll need to =
think
about lobbying to change that 2-operator rule before long, and this might=
put
a damper on rover operating in the next few contests. So we've decided t=
o do
a fairly major roving operation.
As before, the limiting factor is the fact that we'll be QRP, the Dodge N=
eon
does not provide room for a large antenna farm or lots of gear, and we do=
n't
want to spend much time outside the car pointing antennas in January. =
Therefore, we'll probably be going with omnidirectional antennas (althoug=
h the
PVC-toilet plunger contraption will be retired).
Our route will probably be driving to Chicago on Friday, and beginning th=
e
contest there. On Saturday, we'll do the four corners in the Chicago are=
a,
and then the four corners in Milwaukee. From there, we'll head to Madiso=
n,
Eau Claire, and the Twin Cities. Sunday will be spent in Minnesota grids=
=2E
We have gear for 6, 2, 220 (FM), and 432. We would be interested in tryi=
ng
out other bands, if anyone has gear they would be interested in lending o=
ut. =
Since the rover rules say we need to haul the equipment with us, we're
probably not interested in microwave gear. But a 1296 or 900 MHz handhel=
d (if
such a thing exists) would be appreciated! If you have some gear you cou=
ld
spare for the contest, we promise to make every effort to QSO you with it=
!
